Regional technological institute

The Regional Technological Institute (RTI) is a modern engineering and technology research center - it has a new building, machine and software equipment, laboratories and test rooms, about 100 researchers and support staff. It has 9 professional laboratories that can work together on the development of the entire life cycle of the product - from design, construction, optimization, production method, use process, lifetime simulation to recycling. The goal is to optimize the product life cycle with an emphasis on the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy. Successful projects from the past allow us to push the boundaries of the production and economic possibilities of companies and introduce the latest research findings into commercial practice. Focus of the research center: - digital engineering ("digital twin") - additive manufacturing (3D printing in plastic, metal and composites) - materials engineering (research of new materials, testing of mechanical properties, metallography) - mechanical engineering (machining, production of tools and their verification, designs and verification of machining strategies) - road and railway vehicles (design and testing of vehicle components, e.g. body rigidity, chassis tests - strength and durability tests by dynamic loading) With regard to previous long-term experience with the development of metallic materials and their processing, at this moment RTI's activities are focused on the research and development of metallic and composite materials for hydrogen storage. RTI's ongoing research activities, currently concentrated in the ongoing international project EIG Concert Japan and the start-up international project M-Era.Net, aim to develop a new metal matrix composite that is effective for providing hydrogenation capacity comparable to Mg alloys but showing faster kinetics, increased dehydrogenation capacity and limited material degradation per cycle. The material will be based on the concept of an entropy-enhanced alloy with the addition of catalysts. At the end of last year, the Regional Technological Institute was granted accreditation according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 for tests of the mechanical properties of metallic materials (Mechanical Laboratory), measurement of dimensions of shape and position deviations (Metrology Laboratory) and tests in the field of metallography (Metalography Laboratory).
